Ah, technology, we have come a long way!! Way back (25 years ago) when I first had this job, there was not a shelf list. So I decided that was going to be one of my goals. I wrote the titles down by hand and then took that list home to my personal computer where I could enter them in alphabetical order by title AND author! WOW! I thought it was a great little machine! We now have our catalog on Destiny and when it's working, it's great! But when things go wrong it
can take a few days to get it back in order.
I have viewed and commented on a few other people's blogs. It's fun to hear all sides of this
"technical age"!

Okay! I think it's here now! Whew!

Nope! Try, try, again! Or I may have to call Allana!

http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/deck.php Hmmm....let's see if this worked!

I tried playing flicktionary and I did get the first one right, but then they start coming too fast!
Alphalearnr was also interesting, it says it will help kids learn the alphabet through photos. This
was somewhat far-fetched, as the images for jackal did include a real jackal, but also a band (?)
called Jackal and Hyde! Sheez! Too many ideas out there!

Greek These are the remains of a Greek temple now located in the British Museum in London.
My husband & I spent 2 weeks traveling through England back in July and we visited this museum, it was awesome!! It's unreal the artifacts they have from all over the world! We were especially impressed with the sculptures from Greece and Egypt and they even had one of those
stone statues from Easter Island!

I don't know if my picture is actually here. I used Blogger Images, so I hope it shows up!

Google & blogline search tools were both easy to use, just type in your topic and boy, you get all kinds of information on the subject! I looked up several items on Willa Cather and I was even able to find blogs about Snowbabies!
I'm still having a hard time navigating from by blog back to the NE Learns 2.0 page. Am I just supposed to reduce the page or is there a simpler way? I keep losing it.

Using technology to my advantage will be the hardest habit for me. I'm getting to the age
where "change" can be a scarry thing. My husband still has to set up the DVD recorder for me
and I want to get an IPOD, but I don't want to learn all the steps to using it. I think I sound like
my mother!
I'll have no problem filling up my toolbox!

I'm having a hard time getting excited about blogging and reading blogs or newsreaders. I barely have enough time to read my e-mails!! Sitting in front of a computer all day reading is
not my idea of fun, I'd rather be outside or reading a great book!
It is much quicker to get to those blogs using the RSS and you can easily scroll through & find
the important stuff you're looking for.
I'll try another reader, but I'm still not excited!

The best advantage of using IM is getting answers quickly! The biggest disadvantage is when no one in your address book is online to respond! /:
I used IM a couple of years ago when my son & his wife were getting married. They live in Omaha & I live in Red Cloud. When it got down to making final decisions and they were on the phone with the wedding planner, he could instant message me & ask my opinion.
As I librarian, I could see where this may be helpful to patrons needing quick answers about
anything! But it could also take up alot of a librarian's time answering those questions and the
patron(s) may get impatient waiting for an answer if the librarian is doing other things.
